CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- The Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBOE) appointed Justin P. Brown, Sr. as an interim board member during their meeting on Monday. Brown began his term immediately after being sworn in by Jefferson County Circuit Clerk Laura Storm at the start of the meeting. Brown, a Jefferson County native, was selected after a competitive interview process. He was one of four individuals who applied to fill a vacancy created when board member Gary Kable retired in February. Brown said he is looking forward to the opportunity to serve.
" I am sincerely honored to be here for the students, staff, and community with the goal of doing my best to fill the shoes that Mr. Kable left us for the time I am here."
Brown's term ends June 30, 2022, but he has a lot he'd like to accomplish in that time frame.
"I'm hoping to simply do my part for Jefferson County Schools in ensuring we provide a top-level educational ecosystem to all we serve here in the state of West Virginia."
Brown serves as the lead pastor at Hope City Church in Martinsburg and is a former Jefferson County Schools teacher. He is a JCS parent with children attending Wright Denny Intermediate School, Charles Town Middle School, and Washington High School.
