CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Three students representing Jefferson County Schools at the West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair on March 7 won top honors for their work.
Jillian Dillow of Shepherdstown Middle won first place in Division II, Earth and Environmental Sciences for her presentation entitled "Oil Spill Clean-up."
Eli Dillow of Jefferson High won second place in Division III, Engineering Technology: Statics and Dynamics for his presentation entitled "Static Pile Angle."
Andrew Stone of Washington High won first place in Division III, Earth and Environmental Sciences for his presentation entitled "Styrofoam Compost with Mealworms."
Congratulations to Jillian, Eli, and Andrew on these notable achievements and recognitions!
Several JCS students also received recognition at the Regional Science Fair. Below are the winners from the Elementary and Middle School Division:
- First Place, Animal and Plant Sciences: Soil or Water for Plant Growth by Samantha Didion and Mason McConnell (SMS)
- Honorable Mention, Animal and Plant Sciences: Enzymic Browning by Scott Leonard and McGuire Gleeson (SMS)
- Third Place, Medical and Health Sciences: Lung Capacity: Men vs. Women by Lily Nicodemus and Amanda Baeza (SMS)
- Honorable Mention: Which Stitch Is Stronger by Noelle Nicodemus (SMS)
- Special Awards: Addie Topping (WMS)
