SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- Jefferson High School (JHS) FFA Member Emily Marstiller recently won first place in the State FFA Employment Skills Contest. This competition simulates real-world activities used by employers and tests student’s ability to perform effectively throughout the employment process.
Students are required to submit a cover letter and resume, complete an application and a telephone interview, and then participate in a face-to-face interview. As the state winner, Emily will attend the National FFA Convention at the end of October in Indianapolis, IN., where she will demonstrate these activities as part of the National FFA Employment Skills Leadership Development Event.
The competition helps students develop and improve skills like active listening, problem-solving, decision-making, and written and oral communication. Congratulations, Emily, and Good Luck and Nationals!
