SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- On Friday, July 9, 2021, Wildwood Middle School FFA Member Grace Ott took first place in the State Prepared Public Speaking contest with her speech outlining the profound differences between "Animal Rights" and "Animal Welfare."
Grace has worked tirelessly since February, researching her topic to ensure she had the facts before composing her speech.
After writing her rough draft, her ELA Teacher, Mrs. Fennell, helped Grace make the necessary edits before she took on the task of memorizing the six-to-eight-minute essay.
Grace has been working with her FFA Advisor, Ms. Poole, over the last several months about how to use hand signals, body movements, tone, voice, and eye contact to create power in her words.
Please join Wildwood Middle and the entire JCS community in congratulating Grace as her efforts have brought another first-place win in a WV State FFA Competition to Jefferson County!
