Jefferson County Schools News "No Shave for the Brave"

Ben Williams sporting a beardJefferson County law enforcement officers are sporting a scruffier look this November to support an important cause. Each year, “No Shave for the Brave” allows deputies and officers statewide to grow beards to raise funds and awareness for Child Advocacy Centers (CACs). These centers provide crucial support to juveniles who have experienced abuse, offering safe environments and services led by specially trained staff. This year, Jefferson County law enforcement’s participation will once again benefit Victoria’s House, a Child Advocacy Center that serves children in Jefferson and surrounding counties through the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia.

Lt. Ben Williams serves as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Resource Officer at Jefferson High School and is no stranger to the campaign—this marks his 11th year participating. Lt. Williams works with young people daily, providing students with a reliable resource for both safety and mentorship. Through his involvement in No Shave for the Brave, he helps raise awareness and funds for children’s programs like Victoria’s House, which provide critical services to area youth.

“With our CACs, we can gather important information in a way that is sensitive to the child’s experience and helps them tell their story just once,” Lt. Williams shared. “The work these centers do is essential for the well-being of kids in our community.”

The JCSO has proudly supported Victoria’s House in recent years, recognizing the center’s vital role in the region. This community fundraiser extends through the end of November.
