Christen CameronJefferson County Schools (JCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christen Cameron as the district’s new Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Cameron joined the county’s Department of Finance in 2023 as a professional accountant in payroll. She brings a wealth of experience and a strong background in finance to her new role. 

Cameron's career in finance began after graduating from Shepherd University in 2002. She earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 2005, which paved the way for her extensive career in accounting. From 2006 to 2016, Cameron honed her skills in the public sector as an accountant for Nichols DeHaven & Associates in Charles Town. From there, she transitioned to K-12 education, joining Berkeley County Schools as a professional accountant in payroll.  

Cameron expressed enthusiasm for her new responsibilities. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes stability and teamwork, which she believes are crucial for the continued success and efficiency of Jefferson County Schools.  

"I have a great team already in place and look forward to providing consistent leadership to the finance department and the county overall," she said.  

Additionally, Cameron highlighted her passion for learning and professional growth. "I am a constant student, so I love to learn new things," she remarked. This commitment to continuing education will undoubtedly benefit JCS as she navigates the complexities of her new role. 

JCS Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bishop expressed his confidence in Cameron's appointment.  

"We're excited to have Christen Cameron step into the role of Treasurer and CFO," he said. "Her leadership and commitment to professional growth make her an ideal fit for this position, and we are confident she will make significant contributions to our schools and community."
