Seven students from Jefferson County Schools will travel to Charleston in February for the 2024 West Virginia All-State Band. Six Washington High School (WHS) students and one Jefferson High School (JHS) student achieved this honor following auditions at Shepherd University on November 30.
The student musicians will rehearse from February 29 through March 2 as part of the West Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in Charleston. The event will culminate with a musical performance with the top instrumental students in the state.
WHS Director of Bands Lisa Hazlett said it's a significant achievement.
"Earning a place in this prestigious ensemble is the highest honor for a high school musician."
